  • 3 ounces chilled Prosecco
  • 2 ounces chilled Aperol
  • 1 ounce chilled soda water
  • Plenty of ice cubes
  • 1 fresh orange slice for garnish

Equipment

  • Large wine glass
  • Measuring jigger or measuring cup
  • Long cocktail spoon
  • Knife
  • Cutting board

Method

Step 1: Prepare the Glass
  1. Choose a large wine glass and fill it generously with fresh ice cubes.
Step 2: Add the Prosecco
  1. Slowly pour the chilled Prosecco over the ice, allowing the bubbles to remain lively.
Step 3: Add the Aperol
  1. Pour the Aperol into the glass. The cocktail will begin to develop its signature vibrant orange color.
Step 4: Add the Soda Water
  1. Finish by adding a splash of chilled soda water to create a lighter and more refreshing cocktail.
Step 5: Gently Mix
  1. Use a long cocktail spoon to gently stir the ingredients once or twice. Avoid stirring too vigorously so you do not lose the carbonation.
Step 6: Garnish and Serve
  1. Add a fresh orange slice to the glass and serve immediately while the cocktail is cold, bubbly, and refreshing.

Notes

For the best flavor, chill the Aperol, Prosecco, and soda water before preparing the cocktail.
Use plenty of large ice cubes to keep the drink cold while preventing it from becoming diluted too quickly.
A classic Aperol Spritz follows the simple ratio of 3 parts Prosecco, 2 parts Aperol, and 1 part soda water.
Always add the sparkling ingredients gently to preserve the bubbles.
Serve immediately after preparation, as the cocktail will gradually lose carbonation and become diluted as the ice melts.
For a slightly lighter drink, add a little more soda water.
For a stronger bittersweet flavor, slightly increase the amount of Aperol.
Fresh orange slices provide the best aroma, flavor, and presentation.
For a non-alcoholic version, use a non-alcoholic bitter orange aperitif and alcohol-free sparkling wine.
