Notes

Rye whiskey creates a traditional Manhattan with a bold and slightly spicy flavor.
Bourbon can be substituted for rye whiskey for a smoother and slightly sweeter cocktail.
Always use fresh vermouth for the best flavor, and store opened vermouth in the refrigerator.
A Manhattan should traditionally be stirred rather than shaken to maintain a smooth texture and clear appearance.
Use plenty of fresh ice while stirring to achieve proper chilling without excessive dilution.
For the best presentation, chill the serving glass before preparing the cocktail.
This cocktail is best enjoyed immediately after preparation.
You can adjust the amount of sweet vermouth slightly to match your preferred level of sweetness.
Garnish with a quality cocktail cherry for a classic presentation, or use an orange twist for a fresh citrus aroma.
