Method
- Prepare the glass: Rub a lime wedge around the rim of each cocktail glass. Dip the rim lightly into coarse margarita salt and set aside.
- Prepare the mango: Peel and remove the pit from a ripe mango, then cut the flesh into chunks. Measure 1 cup of mango.
- Blend the ingredients: Add the mango, tequila, orange liqueur, fresh lime juice, agave syrup, and ice to a blender.
- Blend until smooth: Process until the margarita is thick, smooth, creamy, and completely combined. Add a small amount of extra ice if you want a thicker frozen margarita.
- Taste and adjust: Taste before serving. Add more lime juice for acidity, more agave syrup for sweetness, or a little more mango if you want a stronger tropical flavor.
- Serve: Pour the mango margarita into the prepared glasses.
- Garnish: Finish with a fresh mango wedge and lime wedge. Add a few mint leaves if desired.
- Enjoy immediately: Serve cold while the margarita has its freshest flavor and smoothest texture.
Notes
Use a fully ripe, fragrant mango for the sweetest and most flavorful margarita.
Freshly squeezed lime juice provides significantly brighter flavor than bottled lime juice.
Start with less agave syrup and add more after tasting, since ripe mango can already be very sweet.
Frozen mango can be substituted for fresh mango for an extra-thick frozen margarita.
For a spicy variation, add a few thin slices of fresh jalapeño before blending.
To make a non-alcoholic version, omit the tequila and orange liqueur and replace them with sparkling water or a suitable non-alcoholic citrus mixer.
For the best texture and flavor, serve immediately after blending.
Store leftover margarita mixture in an airtight container in the refrigerator and use within 24 hours. Stir well before serving.
